Minor Rules For Blackjack Can Make or Break a Player

Different casinos usually have different variations for blackjack rules. When you enter a casino for the first time, do not forget to read the rules of the game that you plan to play. If you are going to play blackjack ask the dealer for more added information and rules.

The following are few blackjack variations:

1. Hit Soft 17

Any card combination that includes an Ace is called a Soft 17. An Ace with other cards with a total of 6 can be counted as 11 or 1. An Ace can be worth 11 or 1 depends on your cards at hand.

There are casinos that instruct their dealer to stand on 17 but there are other casinos that instruct their dealer to hit a soft 17 otherwise.

There is a difference between the dealer standing on 17 or hitting a soft 17. It can be unfavorable to players because it can increase the casino advantage.

Usually, small casinos still use this rule of hitting at soft 17. You will be able to know if the casino practices this rule, it is normally written on their rules on top of the table.

2. Double Down only on 10 or 11

Casinos with this kind of rule can be very unfavorable for players. This rule is not good for players. Avoid this rule as much as possible, since some casinos allow players to double down as long as they are holding their original two cards.

3. No Doubling Down with Split Hands

Another no, no for a casino rule, there is nothing you can do but to avoid this casino. There are still more casinos that allow players to double down even if they split a pair.

4. No Re-splitting

There are casinos that allow players to split their hands up to four times, but an Ace can be split only once. But, on some casinos they don't allow players to split on the second round after splitting for the first time.

Casinos that do not allow players to re-split are not giving players favorable odds.

5. No Surrender

This rule obviously is unfavorable to players. Surrender should at least be allowed to players before the game begins, when it does the player can keep half of his or her bet. So stay away from casinos with "No Surrender" rule.

Even if you are familiar with the casino that you are playing blackjack make it a habit to always read the rules for any changes. Some casinos make changes especially when seasoned gamblers are around.

Do not just play at any blackjack table just because you are feeling lucky. Read the rules and make sure that all the rules are fair and just.

Be prepared with your strategy and have good bankroll management.
